When and how did you and your partner meet?
‘Love at first site’ is not the case with all happy marriages! We love the beginning of Jo and Rudi’s love story, safe to say they are pretty sure of each other now!
“We actually met at work in 2012 when I joined the company. Initially I wasn’t sure of him as he really didn’t seem aware of personal space and I always used to laugh about it with the girls in my team. However, he grew on me!”
What was the proposal like?
Not all ideas go to plan, but the unexpected are certainly wonderful and magical.
“Rudi had planned to take me to Maderia, where he was born, and propose to me at the view point that we always visit when we go. However, due to COVID our holiday was cancelled.Rudi had my engagement ring made and had the date scribed inside, therefore he took me to Bournemouth beach, along the cliff top. He decided we were going to look through the telescope. I thought gosh this is super planned as he got the detol out to spray the telescope!!”
“Anyway he put some money in and then looked through it, he then said, come on Jo your turn, look to your future… as I did he put the engagement ring at the end of the microscope.”Jo certainly liked the look of her future as of course, she said ‘YES!’
Can you tell us about your special day?
“Rudi and I have always loved watching escape to the chateau, so we wanted to find somewhere with that kind of feel. Somewhere private that we could fully hire out. When we found our venue and walked around it, I just fell in love with a boho vibe themed wedding,Its exclusivity, the privacy, the idea it was quiet and romantic and miles from everywhere”
“The night before the wedding we stayed at our wedding venue in a quaint little cottage on the grounds. My bridesmaids decorated the lounge and we sat talking, playing games and laughing. It was very relaxed.”
“We married on the lawn, had canapes at the Orangery and proceeded to the Coach house for our wedding breakfast and party.”
“The day was all my wishes come true, it was magical. I honestly felt the best I have ever looked in my life. I honestly wouldn’t change a thing.”
“The only thing I would say to brides is try not to stress, and try and take a breath, step back and appreciate every moment of the day. I was so nervous, it went by in a flash, and I wish I could do it all again.”
Jo’s wedding highlight, truly melts our hearts and we hope you enjoy hearing about her wedding experience as much as we have!
“My highlight has to be my son giving me away in his navy uniform. He didn’t think he would be able to make it as he was meant to be away but he was there. Having my son by my side, my daughter as my bridesmaid as I walked towards the man of my dreams was just every wish come true – gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.”
Did you have a favourite element of your dress?
“I loved everything about it. It was completely me. Plain, elegant and romantic.”
What was your favourite part / job to do planning your wedding day?
“I really loved going to some wedding shows, I had been with friends over the years and always felt so envious. Being able to do that was so lovely. And as always Minster Bridal were there to bump into.”
What advice would you give future brides when looking for their dress or planning their day?
“Go to Minister Bridal, I’m not just saying that. My dress was nothing like I imagined it to be. They asked me questions and got to know me, maybe better than I know me.
