A Contemporary Cornish Celebration

A Contemporary Cornish Celebration

When and how did you and your partner meet?

“We met just after university when we were 23 years old. It wasn’t until we both left that we started
talking. Amazing where a cheeky DM can get you.” We love to hear a successful DM love story!

What was the proposal like?

Kiarnah and Jack’s engagement story isn’t what you may expect but romantic nevertheless with a
happy ending. “The proposal didn’t go to plan at all! I found the ring in our bedroom and he had to
propose right there and then. Luckily he was able to move the proposal plan to that weekend. He
was not best pleased with me, but I still say it’s his fault for hiding it in a terrible place.”

Did you have an inspiration for the theme of your wedding?

“We wanted the wedding to be in Cornwall as it’s somewhere we both love. We also wanted to have
it over three days and the venue was ideal to facilitate this.
We picked The Green as we could create a relaxed barn wedding with views of the country. The
flowers were also really important to bring our vision to life. We had hanging flower chandlers
throughout the main barn and floor to ceiling windows looking out onto Bodmin Moor. Our venue
was absolutely perfect for how we wanted the day to look and feel.”

Was the style of gown that you chose, what you always imagined or did it surprise you?

“I always pictured myself in a plain gown with no detail, potentially silk. This was exactly the
opposite of what I ended up with. The gown was full of intricate detail with both sides cut out with
lace. As soon as I tried it on, I knew it was exactly what I wanted to wear on the day. My mum had
always hoped I’d have a little bit of glitter on my dress, so she was over the moon with my choice.
The lace straps and low back were just perfect. Absolutely my favourite part of the dress.”

What was the hair and makeup look you wanted to achieve with your artist?

“My maid of honour did my hair and I wanted something that would work well with the veil. She
only nearly killed me once when I said her first attempt looked too bridal. In the end it was half up
and curled.
I had a fantastic make-up artist that brought my smokey eye dreams to life. It was the hottest day of
the year, so sweat proof make-up was a must!”

What advice would you give future brides when looking for their dress?

“Be open to trying on a variety of dresses. The professionals at MB have so much knowledge so
trust their dress choices. Always listen to your gut instinct, if you keep coming back to a dress, it is
the one! Think about the time of year that you are having your wedding. I thought I wanted sleeves
for an August wedding and I would have really regretted this.”

Anything you would change?

“I would say have a little practise of your vows beforehand. It was very embarrassing to get the
words mixed up in front of all my family and friends. It made for a great picture though!” There’s
always a silver lining!

How did it feel looking back at your wedding photos / videos?

“The whole day was just perfect for us. The pictures/videos captured the pure happiness we felt and
the love we felt from both our family and friends. I also loved seeing pictures of me walking down
the aisle. My husband was convinced I was going to turn up in anything but white/ivory. He was
shocked to see me in white lace.”

What was your first dance song?

“We did a surprise choreographed first dance. Our wedding guests were so shocked, but really loved
this. We watched The Office quite a bit when we first started dating, so the dance was based from
one of the episodes. Not very romantic, but very us. Definitely one of our highlights of the day.”
