When and how did you and your partner meet?
Amarachi was lucky enough to find her soul made during a troublesome time in the word. They have thrived together since then, letting love take the reins.
“Chimaroke and I met through a mutual friend, his cousin. On this busy day at work, I got a text asking if he could introduce me to someone. I reluctantly agreed and allowed him to share my contact, which was about the last months of 2019. Ironically our friendship blossomed during the 2020 pandemic. We spoke a lot and grew fond of one another. Little did we know that we were on a path of a lifetime. For us, the pandemic was a blessing in disguise.”
What was the proposal like?
“We had an unconventional proposal. He asked me to marry him about four times or more over the phone (laughs) before he finally got down on one knee on our wedding eve.”
Did you have an inspiration for the theme of your wedding?
Amarachi celebrated her marriage in Nigeria, where she looked absolutely breath taking and ready to tie the knot to her one true love.
“Our inspiration is Christ and to represent the kingdom in every sense; hence our invitation read Kingdom marriage”; this was a bit different from a traditional wedding invite, but it was intentional to have a wedding that reflected the kingdom. “My Mum had attended a wedding at the venue and suggested we go for it.” As they say ‘Mums always know best!’
Did you have a favourite element of your dress?
“My dress was very classy and my style. I want to be happy with my choice and my photos years down the line. With this gown, I knew I would be.”
Amarachi also worked with our fabulous in house semesters, Sarah to complete her look. Of course Sarah’s magic hands created an exquisite finish.
“I’m grateful to Sarah Sivyer, who restyled my dress and the entire team of the Minister Bridal Boutique for their dedication to making sure my dress was ready before I flew to Nigeria.”
What did you do the night before your wedding?
“Lol! I had my nails done earlier and straight off for my hair prep. I was at the hairstylist’s until midnight (I do not recommend that). We had some disappointments, but I applaud Tochukwu and his girls for their calmness as they tackled the issues that night and showed up as earlier as 6 am the following day to get me all set for the big day.”
Sounds like a wonderful team and the end result sure was worth it! Wow!
What was your highlight of the special day?
“It was a colourful and glamorous wedding. The highlight was sharing our joy with our parents, our Nana’s, family and friends who love and watched us at the different stages of our lives.”
What was your favourite job when planning your wedding day?
“Giving orders! I have to thank my husband, who is a very patient man. He was more hands on the planning than I was. Thankful to Chee and Janey of the Crystalsbycheeevents, who were relentless in giving us our dream wedding.” Sounds like a dream team! Advice to future brides is to remember you’re not alone. Take the hands of your loved ones in your planning process and it will feel like a weight of your bridal shoulders!
What advice would you give future brides when looking for their dress?
“Girl, go for your most comfortable style. It’s crucial to be you on your big day. Remember, you are the celebrant, and all eyes will be on you. Also, listen to suggestions from experts and family who know you very well. My sisters and, of course, the stylist guided my thoughts and streamlined my numerous ideas.”
What advice would you give to brides looking to plan a destination wedding?
i) “Have a budget and prioritise the things that are important to you for your big day.”
ii) “Get a good photographer who can capture the moments.”
iii) “Hire people you trust there work and can deliver.”
Great advice, we hope this helps any future brides, looking to do the same.
