How did Jamie propose?
Jamie has melted all of our hearts at Minster Bridal with this engagement “Jamie proposed at Christmas. He had bought a ring for both me and my 3 year old daughter! He said ‘I’d like to look after you both for the rest of my life if you’ll both have me’.”
Did you have an inspiration for the theme of your wedding?
“I’ve always loved really feminine, girly decor at weddings. I also love sparkle but in an understated way. My theme was boho glam so plenty of pampas.” Well Selma, you were ahead of the trends as we’ve recently been seeing a lot of stunning Pampas designs in the wedding season!
What was it about your venue that drew you in?
“I got married at Southend Barns. It was actually the first venue I looked at and instantly fell in love when I walked in. I loved the little touches such as the fire-pits outside and the sheepskin rugs draped over the seating in the ceremony room.” Just like when you’ve found your true love, once you know, you know.
Did you have a favourite element of your dress?
“My favourite part of the dress was the multiple layers of beautiful lace which really showcased the silhouette of the sequin underskirt.”
What was your routine / plan the night before?
“I had my daughter Emmy with me at home and my fiancé Jamie stayed at a hotel.All the prep was done so I just focused on having a girly night with Emmy and we both had a very early night.” Sounds like the perfect pre wedding night! You can’t beet some mother and daughter girl time.
What was your highlight of the special day?
“My highlight was our first dance. My husband had pre-recorded himself singing our song (I can’t help falling in love with you, the ed Sheeran cover) as a surprise.It was a good 20 seconds into the song when I finally realised it wasn’t Ed Sheeran singing. My daughter was also featured singing at the end of the song, that’s when I broke down in happy tears.” Selma and Jamie really know how to pull on our heart strings! A beautiful and sentimental touch to the wedding day. Grooms…take notes!
“Choosing my dress was also my favourite part leading up to the wedding. I had my two sisters and my mum with me and we had a good giggle, drank some bubbles and I tried on some stunning dresses.” Choosing your wedding dress is an experience in itself. A message to future brides, is to make sure you take the time to relax and enjoy this journey before the wedding.
What advice would you give future brides when looking for their dress or planning their day?
“Try on some styles that you have never pictured yourself in, you might be surprised!”
“I’d also recommend investing in entertainment. We had a magician, saxophone player, acoustic singer and surprise singing waiters (which I didn’t tell my hubby about!) all money well spent.”
