What was the proposal like?
Kayley was left on top of the world after her unexpected surprise in New York! “We had a trip planned to New York over the Christmas period. My birthday is the 18th December so we booked tickets to the Empire State Building and to my surprise, he proposed at the top at sunset.”
Did you have an inspiration for the theme of your wedding?
“I knew that I wanted something timeless, where I wouldn’t look back and regret any trends. So timeless glam I’d say!”
“The girls at Minster bridal found my dress spot on. My dress was one thing I was unsure of. With the theme “timeless glam” I wanted something either quite plain & traditional or fitted & glam… polar opposites! I didn’t expect the girls as Minster Bridal to get it so spot on.. and first time! The girls know their stuff and what suits who.. the beading, sparkle and huge train. I couldn’t have picked another dress more “made for me” and none compared once I tried it on.”
Can you tell us about your special day and the build up?
“I found my venue on Pinterest and was drawn from day one. We got married in the orangery at De Vere Tortworth Court. I hadn’t seen any other venues like it and loved the fact it still had the big Manor House aspect as well as the orangery which was just magical with its high glass ceilings and fairy lights.”
Kayley’s advice to future brides is…“You’re only going to do it once.. so do it right. Book and have whatever you can/want and don’t listen to others opinions. It’s your day!”
Hayley proposed to her brides with some crafty DIY on Etsy which is some great inspiration for future brides looking to propose to their own bridesmaids! “I bought some little bags on Etsy and filled them with bridesmaid flutes, a bridesmaid biscuit and some chocolates that all fit with my colour theme.”
I was generally very traditional. I did have my bridesmaids in white though which was a bit controversial when I told people beforehand. I’m so glad I stuck to my vision though because they all looked stunning!” Stick to your gut lady’s! It’s your day and you know what looks best!
“Me and my bridesmaids all stayed at the venue. I booked the suite for me and my maid of honour. We all spent the day sat drinking in the sun and the evening preparing hair etc for the big day.”
“Everything was so overwhelming on the day, but walking down the aisle is a moment I’ve dreamt of since I was a little girl. A sentimental highlight I will hold in my heart forever is that my dad wrote me a song and played a ukulele during his father of the bride speech. That was so special and had most of the room in tears. It’s a moment I will never forget.”
“My husband is an avid karaoke singer.. so I planned some singing waiters as a surprise to him which came out during dinner. It really was one of my favourite things I had planned and really got the party started earlier! That was a favourite part of the day, but planning wise, obviously dress shopping and visiting our event stylists watching my vision come together with the decor etc.” If you’re looking for Timeless Glam, with some twists and surprises then Kayley’s wedding is the Inspo for you!
